How is the Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) insulation installed?

The foam comes as a two-part product, delivered as a liquid from two drums that mix the components through a sprayer. The liquid is sprayed at a very high pressure to mix the chemical with the hardener and deliver it to the building cavity. It expands into a solid cellular plastic with millions of tiny air-filled cells that fill every crack and crevice.

How does spray foam insulation compare to fiberglass batts?

SPF boasts the highest R-value per-inch than any other commercial material. No additional vapor protection is required and there is no air movement around or through the insulation, unlike batts. SPF is ideal for cathedral ceilings, small spaces and hard to reach areas where fiberglass can not easily be installed.

Will spray foam insulation lose R-value or deteriorate over time?

SPF does not sag, settle or shrink. Most factory made insulation materials suffer a reduction in performance due to air leakage and infiltration. SPF seals the wall cavity from infiltration and will not break down over time.

How long does in take to install the insulation?

A typical home can be completed in just a few days. Larger homes or homes with complex design details may take longer.

Does the insulation contain any harmful chemicals?

It contains no CFCs, HCFCs, fibers, or formaldehyde. It gives off no gases and is a water-blown environmentally friendly product.
